You should already know by now that Sauti Sol
won an MTVEMA Award for Best African Act,
2014. This makes them the first Kenyans to do
it, beating renowned giants such as Davido and
Diamond. It looks like we came through for
them this time round. They couldn’t have done
it without your vote, which is why as soon as
their victory was announced, they posted a
tweet saying they had a surprise for their fans.
By ingeniously using their social media
platforms, Sauti Sol managed to get the
usually lethargic fanbase to vote for them and
MTV just announced that they group beat
favourites Davido and Diamond from Nigeria
and Tanzania respectively.
Sauti Sol is the first Kenyan act ever to
receive this award and goes on to show just
how big and dedicated their fans are.
The win means Sauti Sol are now the sole
African ambassadors at the EMA and have
made it into the final voting phase of the
prestigious Worldwide Act award category, as
one of 10 international Worldwide Act
nominees.
Go Sauti Sol and make Kenya and Africa
